The Leeds International Piano Competition known affectionately as "The Leeds" has been a meeting ground for some of the world’s finest pianists. Since its creation in 1963 by Fanny Waterman, its winners include Sir András Schiff, Radu Lupu and Lars Vogt – who features on the jury for this year’s competition.

The Leeds is proud to have Lang Lang as its Global Ambassador who will be present at the Final and honoured by Leeds University, the competition’s Principal Partner. Artistic Directors Paul Lewis and Adam Gatehouse tell us about the global and inclusive nature of The Leeds:

After an exciting international First Round held in Berlin, Singapore and New York we join the successful candidates for the next phase of the Competition. Pianists from the four corners of the world: from Russia to China, the United Kingdom to the United States, Croatia to South Korea, assemble today, in one city for the long-awaited Second Round.
