It is the fifth day of the competition and we are at centre point of the Semi-Finals. The added pleasure of this stage is the stellar guests who join our pianists for chamber works. The competitors have the opportunity to exhibit their musicianship with some of the world’s finest instrumentalists...

And they’re off! Yesterday’s competitors astounded us with electric performances including Mozart Fantasias, Rachmaninov Etudes and Chopin Polonaises. Today’s line-up certainly maintains the excitement and excellence, to say the least! We got to meet some of them backstage and gain an insight into what it takes to compete at the great Leeds International Piano Competition.
Today’s the day! The first performances of the Second Round of the Leeds International Piano Competition 2018 are underway! 24 pianists from around the globe have successfully made it through the First Round and today they met in Leeds to battle it out and play their way through the Second Round to the Semi-Finals.
The Leeds International Piano Competition known affectionately as "The Leeds" has been a meeting ground for some of the world’s finest pianists. Since its creation in 1963 by Fanny Waterman, its winners include Sir András Schiff, Radu Lupu and Lars Vogt – who features on the jury for this year’s competition.
